Give your portraits a modern look with Photoshop Pt.3

February 25th, 2008 by admin in Photo Retouching

Overlay will put some real punch in contrast in to the picture. Just what I’m looking for. Trouble is it’s a little bit too bright through the face. Now you might like that. That may be the effect that you’re looking for but for me that’s just a little bit too much. So I’m gonna see what we can do by switching off the middle layer. Yeah, switching off the middle layer makes it darker.

Digital imaging has completely revolutionized the way portrait is done. So I’m gonna show you a modern portrait technique using a digital image. So this is my portrait which is fine the modern way tends to be images that are much brighter and more contrasty. So here’s how you do it.

First of all we’ve got the Layers Palette open and I’m gonna make a copy of this layer. Simply drag it down on to the new layer icon and when you let go you get an identical version. Now to make this image brighter I’m going to change the blend mode from “Normal’ to ‘Screen’.

Soft focus effect in Photoshop Pt.3

February 20th, 2008 by admin in Photo Retouching

The other ones to look at you are going to find out here screen which can give you a kinda brighter effect.

Overlay give a much softer focus effect but really increase the contrast and we give it a punch in there or for a softer effect stick with soft light but if you really want a soft focus effect go back to normal and take the capacity down.

So we have a little bit of the soft image and a little bit of the sharp image and here you can get a lovely soft blending in effect and you can control is exactly, you can choose how much you want simply by moving the capacity line around.

Now we can use the blend modes to create quite interesting soft focus effects.

I’ve got a picture here of a nice tree with some spring bough flowers on lets bring layers on to the screen and make it duplicate layer so I get down to the new layer icon let go and if u do it correctly like that, that’s better you get a brand new layer. Exactly the same as the original. Under that I am going to put on a filter.
