Hey guys! Welcome to todays episode of Quick N’ Easy Photoshop. I’m in the middle of a huge client job right now but a.. I’m still going to take some time and do this episode for you guys because I know I haven’t been putting up the best stuff ever for the last couple of weeks because I have a.. had my college finals and exams and stuff but now kind of a.. back into my full time, my time stuff.

So, here we go. I was kind of thinking of something cool we get… we can do a.. because Christmas is coming up ch.. and a.. I mean… I don’t know. This has…bur… it doesn’t really have anything to do with the Christmas because its brown Christmas timers looking at a new phone because this is the time that I bought my i-phone. And obviously after a year and so you know your phone’s little beat up ….

So I have this stalk image of a phone. I need to cut out the grey dust but a.. I want to kind of duplicate one of those really good marketing techniques a… which is to a… throw a spark light on the item. So I’m just going to shrink it down here, put it in place and now, so this is our layer, a.. black background and now we’re going to make a new layer. I’m just going to hide the phone for now.

We’re going to grab the Pen tool. And a… we’re just going to do a path and we’re going to choose white a… as a color. So just going to click, click, click for a little bit of a band. Not too much of a band because obviously it doesn’t really band like that and now it’s a path and you can see it’s filled up white and now we can kind of a.. play with the.. the stuff here so we can change the layer facts. Oh! this is totally not working up the way I want it to, is it? Ch.. hum… all right.

I know what I did here. A.. we’re going to grab pen tool again. There. I selected the wrong option by.. by mistake. I don’t know how I possibly could have done that. All right. Little too high. There. And click, and click. All right, so now we go over to my paths and we hit the a.. the low paths selection and a new layer and we’re going to fill it a.. you know fill it with the color, fill it with just any kind of color.

Now obviously because its light, you can use white or you can use yellow or whatever you want to do. Well, this is what I’m going to use for a.. for now and a.. so now we can play with the.. the adjustments and stuff. But here’s our phone so if want to a.. you know highlight these effectively, my mind is something like that and then we’re going to sending out the phone, its done like that.

Actually I’m going to leave the phone on its side. Just what makes little more sense. The perspective of the phone is a little wrong but a.. it’s not the end of the world. A… and you can play with your lighting effects here, you can play with a.. you know whatever you want to do. A.. and you can even choose whether you want the light to be behind or in front of the phone a…

whichever you think makes the best effect a… what I’m going to actually do is I’m going to leave it a… appear at 50% fill and grab the eraser and just a bigger eraser anyhow… about 15%. Just going to erase down here a little bit so kind of smooth — at the bottom. And it fades away, because that’s actually how a real light would work. So there we go. So very quick, very simple we kind of have this spot light effect and I mean we can even a.. change color of light.

Make it whatever color we want. A.. To bring up this menu is command or control U for your hue saturation controls and a.. you want to do a colorize because it’s a solid white object and you can you know change the intensity, and you can actually create some pretty cool facts and if you want to even go above and beyond this a… — outer glow, some spread a… low opacity that kind of matches the.. the color here. A.. Come like that.

a.. Just make sure to keep it at the low opacity and keep it spread as a ———- otherwise it’ll kind of overlap. I mean you can kind of…. You can just have fun with it. But that’s kind of a.. that’s kind of how you do a spot light effect in Photoshop. Very simple to setup and then from set up its basically what you want it to look like when its done and you know, very clean, very simple, very effective and that’s todays quick and easy Photoshop a.. I’m Dion Rodrigues and a… we would back with the new episode on Wednesday. Thanks for watching.
