If you go into the exercise files folder, you will find, a subfolder called O1 hello Photoshop, where in you will find, the two images I have opened up on to the screen, Stanley.jpeg and this got right here, the rolling hill.gif.

Now I’m gonna start off things, Stanley.jpeg here. This is a photograph that I shot after a window of a moving car. So the composition is pretty bad, and I didn’t really worked on, making sure the colors are any good. I didn’t do any compositional work inside the camera. This all gonna happen in post, inside Photoshop. Now some of the problems with this image, are that it is offly drabbed, it certainly shows of the worst of Colorado, in the winter when the things are nicer, dry just like the whole thing gonna catch you on fire. And we have all these deciduous trees that have lost their deciduacity. And attentions look at the ground in a hotel, really far back there. And it doesn’t look scary.

Then you might ask me why in the world shouldn’t look scary to my soul 19th century beautiful hotel, what the world would really scare about that. Well this hotel, the Stanley, once the inspiration, from the hotel in Steven kings, the Shinning. This is right here. The Stanley and Estes park Colorado. The thing is if you familiar with the shinning, you know that the hotel is situated in the mountain of course. But, more like way back here in the mountain, deep in the mountain where snowing continuously and they were just miles and miles and miles away from civilization. Where as the Stanley, sits actually pretty close to civilization. If Shelley devolves was running away from her crazed husband Jack Nicholson, in the movie. She could just, run over here to the safe way, probably and if were close to may be she can go to KFC and see what was happening there.

Or she can take in a movie over here, at the cinema. So you know she had a lot of options, in the real world of Stanley. That’s the problem I think. That’s why this hotel leads to looks so much scarier. So this is what we gonna be doing. Throughout this project inside this chapter, we gonna be this photograph right here. Very dram photograph, we gonna be making it brighter, more vivid, more interesting, and we are going to improving the composition, of course. And we gonna be, making it look, way, way scarier. And more remote by adding this image here, now this image I shot just a few miles away from the Stanley, at Rocky mountain national park. These rolling hills with this fogging background, we gonna take these, rolling hills, we gonna composite in front of these buildings here.

So Stanley looks like it’s a buy itself, in this remote, isolated world, which is of course really scarry. Alright and we gonna be doing that knowing in the whole starting in the very next exercise.

In case you didn’t see the video in part 1 of this series… here it is again.
