So far we have learned how to colorize a photo by taking a color picture convert it using a channel mixture in to a gray scale in which a painting on a layer above it and converting the blending modes..
Until now we have not used Photoshop elements. So I will show how to use this affects with Photoshop elements. Since there is no channel mixture in Photoshop elements we are going to take the original photo and go to the Enhance menu item choosing the adjust color and then we are going to remove the color of the photo. This makes it a gray scale image but none of the sunflowers seems to be doing to well. So I am going to be adding an adjustment layer above our new grey scale image.
I am going to use the levels adjustments layers and you see that there are levels chart that comes up. I’m going to take the white levels adjustment. I am going to drag it to the left toward the beginning of this where the curves start and I am going to select OK. You can see that it looks much better now.
