Photoshop Graphic Design: Stripes
Designers as well as common people for use Photoshop for creating innovative designs. Photoshop is amazing tool, which gives flexibility of creating designs on different layers.
In this video, Mr. Josher from Bandit Graphics dot com explains how to create a popular stripes design using Photoshop. His tone is very friendly and instructions are very clear.
He insists for starting a new file for every new design. The size of the image he has taken is 1920 by 1080 as this is the size of his wallpaper. Likewise, he explains every step in detail. At the end of it, designing in Photoshop looks very interesting and simple.
Hello everyone! Josher from Bandit Graphics dot com. Essentially this is what we will be making today is this basics barbershop stripe style graphic. Ok. And you can see these diagonal lines going up and down as you can see. And this is very popular in now a days you see this everywhere and I just thought I teach you guys how to make this ok. This is very simple and I’ll show you right now. So, let’s get started. And open up Photoshop here and make sure to start a new file or shouldn’t get anything. So I essentially made my canvas size 1920 by 1080 that’s just for my wall paper. So make this any size you want and it will depend on different settings that we will have to adjust.
Ok so, here is 1920 by 1080 is it ok. And what essentially I want to do just add a gradient ok over my canvas, my blank canvas and basically what I chose was a light blue and then a darker blue. So choose a light color and then a darker color of your choice, ok so then after that grab your gradient tool and go to the linear, make sure it sets on linear and I want to select at the top of the canvas ok or at the bottom of the canvas and hold shift ok? And drag up. And there we go. We have a nice gradient and after I applied my gradient to my canvas, I just want to go to filter, distort and wave ok? Now these are the settings I used, ok? You can write these settings down.
There are just a few things I want to point out to you guys is make sure your type is set to square ok, as you can see the difference between the settings. Square seems to be the best. Make sure it sets to repeat edges, repeat edge pixels if you don’t, it will messes it up and make sure the horizontal is at one and the vertical is at hundred ok? Now these settings totally are different on the size of your image ok? So, if you have a smaller image, you probably want to increase the wave length and the number of generators and I am sure amplitude as well.
Just decrease everything little bit and you get your desired look as you can see. So I am just going to hit ok and as you can see I have my salved stripes right here and what I want to do to actually make it go diagonally? Basically you could somehow transform this in a way but you really want to get a good look so a clean wave doing is, it’s very easy to do. So I am going to filter, distort once again ok and I am going to go to shear ok? Select that and as you can see you get this box ok, here’s how ——- excuse me. Just drag that to the center.
There we go. This is how it essentially starts at. In the center. Ok? And you can do many things with it and I suggest is to either drag it to left or right and as you can see makes your actual design go diagonally or any way you want. Ok, so if I like drag in the middle click in the middle here and drag out. It actually created curve in my design. So that’s actually very nice. And to get rid of it, just click and drag it off. Ok? And basically you can do that, you can drag this all the way over here to make it more diagonal. I am going to just drag it up to about here. That looks pretty cool. And I am just going to hit ok and as you can see it created our diagonal lines as you can see.
Now to actually give a good design to this is just actual stuff here ok? To actually give it a style effect, you just don’t want stripes; you want something to make it pop. Essentially so what I am going to do is just grab my gradient tool and I am going to select the preset lets say I am just going to select black and white preset ok, select that and I am going to actually here create a new layer ok. Now I have a new layer.
And make sure my gradient tool set to radio gradient right up here, ok? And I am going to click somewhere essentially in the middle and I am just going to drag out like this ok? Essentially though like that ok? And actually here I want to reverse, I want to reverse this and how could I do this is just hit reverse ok? I want to reverse my gradient so I am going select somewhere in the middle drag out and I want the dark to be on the out side, ok? And what I want to do is actually set you set this layer right here my new layer select this, blend in option, this blend in dropdown menu right here and go to multiply.
And as you can see it creates a dark edge around my diagonal lines as you can see. Now as you can see actually in my wallpaper here, I added some noise as you can see kind of looks like either sparkles or snail somewhat and to add that I’ll show you very quickly. Start a new layer, boom, and actually make your foreground white and be sure make your background black. Ok, and before actually doing that, make sure you actually fill in this your empty layer with black. So just hit alt or option backspace and that will fill your layer. So to actually add the noise, go to filter noise and add noise. Right here. And as you can see, its going to be adding some noise.
Make sure it sets to Gaussian, Monochromatic, and the amount 16 depending on your image. So I am going to hit ok. And make sure that layer is set to screen, and as you can see adds little bit of a sparkle effect. You can do anything you like and guys, this has been a quick tutorial I thought you guys may enjoy this. You have any comments or questions; feel free to email me at Contact@BanditsGraphics.com.
