Photoshop Free Transform and Rotate tools

November 1st, 2007 by admin in Photoshop Tutorials

Alright, let’s talk transformations. We’ll deal with 2 in this exercise -the Free Transform and the Rotate.

What I’m about to do is I’m gonna make uh- put the eagle in his own layer, now that’ll make it easier for me to manipulate him. So I’ve used the magic wand – Tolerance 32 clicked on the green pixels click Select Inverse to flip it around. Click Select or rather New. Layer new down to layer via copy. Now I’ll hide the layer 1 layer and free transform is basically just to resize ok that’s all it is. The keyboard shortcut is Control ‘T’or on the mac Command and ‘T’. I can choose Edit free transform and now bring up sizing handles around the eagle. Now if I wanted to I could not constraint proportions here – ok, alright, but let’s just say I want to, so I’ll click and drag corner sizing handles using the Shift key, ok, or rather holding down the shift key at the same time. That’ll maintain the proportions of this eagle. Now if I didn’t want that I could hit the Escape key and that would cancel my transformation.
