So once you have it set the way you like it click ‘OK’ and then you go to ‘Image’- ‘Mode’-'Grayscale’, discard the other channels, yes, and you can further like change this of course using ‘Curves’ ‘Levels’.
Just to give you an example of how much better this conversion is at this stage, then using the ‘Default’- ‘Image’ – “Mode’ _’Grayscale’. Flat, pretty lifeless and a lot more interesting and it really wasn’t a lot more effort to do it. When you have your ‘Default’ set up, its really pretty straight forward actually couple of steps and few seconds more but enormous difference between the two and of course you can go ahead and as I said make further changes with ‘Curves’ or ‘Levels’ – ‘Adjustment layers’.
