So, to get rid of this off white background, just click anywhere over here and as you can tell, it has gotten rid of about 99 percent of the background, and I believe with one more click, I can get rid of the rest of it.
Okay. I’m going to go ahead and get my move tool over here and I’m going to add a new layer for my new background. To get my new background, you just go to file, open, select the background that you want to place at the back and, for this example it’s going to be an American flag. Then open that up, and here’s my picture. Now hit ctrl - A to select this entire picture and we’re going to copy it. Well, since we’ve already got it copied to the clipboard, we’ll go ahead and close it.
Now, with layer 1 selected, I can go up here and click edit and paste, and it will paste it over here. So, as you can tell, this flag is not quite the size that it needs to be for a sufficient background, but I can change that. We can go over here to edit, and free transform, and what I can do, I can just move this around where I need it. I’m going to just move it to the top over here, drag it up to a side, and I’m going to drag the bottom down just past his shoulders so that no transparency or no white background is visible.
Now, I’m going to hit Apply to apply the transform. With that done, notice that the layer… this layer is on top of this layer, so all we do is we come over here; we drag this down, up under this layer.
There we have the American flag background behind this image. Thank you for watching. For more information, visit www.smithmediams.com.
In case you didn’t see the video in part 1 of this series… here it is again.
