Photoshop Techniques – Creating Reflections
Hi there, welcome to another cool photoshop video tutorial. Today we are going to learn how to create reflection of anything in using photoshop? For time being, we are going to create reflection of a banana. The following video will teach you step by step method of creating finest reflection of a banana. Now, carefully watch this video as I am gonna using some easy short cuts for specific tools and these gonna be useful to create such thing in minimal time. So enjoy the video and do let me know your views. Here is the video.
Hello and welcome to this video tutorial, what I am going to do today is show you how to create a nice mirror image reflection of this banana on a cool background. Okay, so we bring out the layer palette. This is our starting position. We got a white background and the layer. If I turned off the white background, you can see, the banana is all by itself. So everything has been selected, away from the banana, so we gotta go back to back ground, an d we are going to add a new layer about. So this is gonna be our gradient layer for the background. So we gonna bring this out, and we got the two colors here, we got the defaults color here, black and white.
We gonna change this one, by just clicking on the banana with the, color sampler tool and we use after gradient okay? That’s a gradient colors. And I am going to select the gradient tool, which lives with the paint bucket, and we goona choose a foreground to background gradient, gradient that’s gonna be the radial gradient. So I am just gonna put this on here, drag on after the side, and there is our gradient layer. And see how it looks. Now we gonna add one more layer here, layer three and this gonna be our reflective surface. So to do that, we go back up here, we get the marquee selecting tool, and by the one third way up, nicely sleek into the banana, you create a selection on that layer. Then you get your paint bucket tool, make black as your foreground color, and pour it in there.
So now, we got the banana sitting over top of this and de-select it. Where are we now? Here we are, that two layers, we got two gradient here, we got the reflective surface layer. Now we gonna go to layer 1, which is the original picture, drag it to the new layer icon, and we create a copy of it. Now this one, we are going to do control T or command T, depending on your system, and that creates a transformation. Now right click on that transformation and flip it vertical. So you can see its all messy in there. Press the shift key and drag that transformation straight down. Now you can see its under there, look like a mirror imagery all right?
And you accept that, so here we are with reasonably good reflection. We gonna do one more thing before we finish, on this layer we wanna go down here and we gonna add a layer mask. Then we gonna bring in, the gradient again, and we are going to choose, foreground to background, and this could be a linear gradient this time. so instead of circles, its gonna create, its gonna go from, soft to dark all the way. And we just gonna put this down here, drag it straight down and see how it looks, umm that’s little bit too much. So we put it here, may be a little over to start, there we go, we take that one, in the interested time. So there we go, this is our final.
Look at the layers we got. And that is our final picture. It’s a big difference from the original one. Its gonna neat, and you can do this on any kind of image like this. And there is lot of fun. So I hope you have enjoyed, I hope you have learned something. If you want to read the text on how to do this, you can visit my website; so thank you for watching.
