Adobe Photoshop Tips - Make Popart Photos

Hello friends, today we are going to learn how to make a popart in Photoshop. Just choose any photo you like, which you think will worth to create a popart. Photoshop has number of tools that can hlep us to create a nice popart. What we are going to do is, first we gonna create a duplicate layer of a photo and then we will create popart on this layer. This technique will help us to retain the original photo as it is so that we can compair it later with our popart. We are goin got change, the hair color, background, skin color and image overlays. I hope you will like this trick. It is very simple.

You can take help of this video as well.

I am going to create pop art images just like the one you are viewing here. This is method 3 and this is the result you will get. So, the first thing you want to do is select an image that you want to work with. So we will be working with this one here. Then we want to duplicate the layer by dragging it down here so it makes a copy. Then we want to go in to Image-> Adjustments and Invert. Then we want to go in to Filter-> Blur-> Blossom Blur and select the radius of about 7. Just see how your results show. Then hit ok. Then we want to change the blending mode to color dodge and this is roughly what your image should look like. We want to go down to here and select a fresh layer. And then we want to move this up until you are happy with the detail that is displayed, so just gonna set this one to about 240 and then hit ok. Now, we want to create a new layer, then select the blending mode to multiply. Then we want to choose a color, a skin color and fill the layer here with that color so I am just gonna go like that using the paint bucket tool.

Then we will rename this layer to skin just so we can keep track. Then we will duplicate the background just by dragging it here and moving up to the top. Then just make sure you have the old colors as foreground. Your hair color and background’s white so, I am going to choose a darker brown for the hair color. Now you want to go into Filter-> Sketch and halftime pattern. Now in the settings, you want to select a half time pattern so as to contrast 50 and then we are going to hit ok. Then we want to change to blending mode so overlay or you can change the blending mode to multiply so it’s up to you. I am going to select multiply for this example. Now we will just rename this to hair and then we want to create a new layer, we will call this one lips. Now, we want to select a red color and change our blending mode to multiply and zoom in and the easiest way to do this is to slide these layers so you can see the actual lips. And then coloring the lips. Now, you can take your time at this to get a better effect but I am just going to quickly give you an idea. It is going to be a little messy. But you get the general idea. Now I am gonna view over those layers then I will zoom out and now you can see that the lips are colored. Now, of course you want to create another layer and we will call this oneand then change the blending mode to overlay and then just color in the whites of the eyes. Now you can see that some of the brown is not colored in right in the iris, so if you just go to the hair layer and then you can put in the white layer.

Actually it would be better to erase it, so I am just going to pick the eraser tool and erase the brown and save us some time when we go to add the iris eye color which is the next step. Okay now we will erase those brown sections that we don’t want. We can erase it from the skin as well. Adjust the skin layer to get that accurate look. Now, of course we want to create a new layer, so I am just going to pick here a new layer so I am going to call this eye color. And then with your color selected, select your paint brush tool and before doing that you want to change the blending mode to multiply. And then color in the color of the eye there and just there as well. Now, if you are unhappy with the colors that you picked, you can just select the layer say, that you want to change the color for that you want to go in Image-> Adjustments-> Hue and saturation.

Then just you can change the color, just like that. Now, you can add a background layer, if you don’t want the background color to be same as the skin color. And that’s just simply done by – layer drag it up here. Set the blending mode to either multiply or overlay. They give you a different effect and just coloring in the background. So that’s basically it. I hope this has helped you out and given you a good idea and thanks for watching.
